The Journal of New Zealand Literature (JNZL) welcomes submissions on any aspect of New Zealand literature, literary history and culture.
The expected length of submitted essays is 4000–5000 words.
JNZL uses the Modern Humanities Research Association (MHRA) style. (Download the MHRA Style Guide.) For a working example of JNZL house style, please see Patrick Evans, ‘“Pakeha-Style Biculturalism” and the Maori Writer‘, Journal of New Zealand Literature, 24 (2006), 11–35.
While the process is underway to bring the journal into a new online format in 2021, it is not possible to submit to the journal at this time. However, we will be ready for submissions from June 2021. Please check back to this website in June for updated details about the submission process.
